"Innovative"
(from Nov. 21st, though I'm sure it'll be pertinent again soon:)
Director of the CIA Porter Goss is claiming that, while the CIA might be using "a variety of unique and innovative ways" to gather information, they DON'T oh my no DON'T use torture.
Innovative. Unique.
That's how you describe a new car wax, not a question of human rights. And if they DON'T use torture, why the hell was the VP campaigning just week-before-last for an exemption to allow them to do so? "Well, they MIGHT decide to do it someday, so we have to allow for that..."
This is insane. We've got secret prisons, kidnapping teams, torture, a one-party government... How the hell are we any different these days from the old Soviet Union?
