Weighing in on the immigration thing

Just a quick note, but we're back to the whole "free market" thing I ranted about a couple months back.

Why was it necessary to pass the FTA? Oh, because Free Trade Is Always Good, and Always Beneficial, and therefore should be encouraged. Countries who attempt to restrict the free flow of goods and capital should be smacked down for violating the Holy Principle of Free Markets with their demonic protectionist heresy.

Now, of course, this principle doesn't apply to LABOR, nosiree. As soon as labor tries to move freely according to market forces (which is what, quite frankly, is happening when undocumented aliens come into the US to take crap jobs at crap wages), we must institute policies to get Those People Back Where They Belong! Pass laws! Criminalize actions! Even go so far as to build a physical wall to keep them out.

And then the True Believers of Capitalism will nod and say, Yes, this is good. Very good. Ignoring the fact that they're being hypocritical wankers, of course.

I guess I was right - you really DO have to explain this kind of stuff.
