TERRORISM IN NYC!
...but you wouldn't know it from the coverage:
NEW YORK - Two explosive devices were thrown at the Mexican Consulate early Friday, blowing out several windows after detonating but causing no injuries, police said.
A law enforcement official said there are "strong similarities" between this incident and British embassy incident of 2005. Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said the incidents are "remarkably similar" in an afternoon news conference.
Well! Has anyone outside of NYC even SEEN this covered by FAUX or CNN?
Of course, those two might have to tear themselves away from reportage like (respectively) "Scientist: Human Race May Split in Two in Far Future", "Man Found Half Naked in Restroom With Inflatable Doll", "Think your house might be haunted?" and "TV sex scenes getting so hot they rival porn".
I got this story from The Unapologetic Mexican; the link at the top is a little "Local News" headline from MSNBC if you've set "New York, New York" as your local news source. (FAUX does have a small story on it, but it's hidden away in the U.S. Headlines section.)
As Nezua points out, this story is hardly being given the kind of breathless scare coverage that oh, I dunno, this story got. Or maybe this story, for something more recent.
Is that because of the lack of injury? The target? Your guess is as good as mine. The one thing our media definitely knows, though, is it doesn't qualify as "terrorism".
Just explosives thrown at a government building. Move along, citizens, nothing to see here.
