Is it November yet?
The hurting just continues:
UPDATE:
from "robert" in the comments, further proof of the necessity of electing TEH RIGHT PERSON to answer that call:
On the day that Iraq invaded Kuwait, Bush the Elder got a 3:00 am call. He rolled over and went back to sleep. A few hours later, Ms. Thatcher called the White House and George was required to sit up and respond.
Aren't I so glad a person with experience and maturity like Poppy was on watch that day.

From the Unofficial History of Three A.M. Calls:
On the day that Iraq invaded Kuwait, Bush the Elder got a 3:00 am call. He rolled over and went back to sleep. A few hours later, Ms. Thatcher called the White House and George was required to sit up and respond. At length and in detail, she explained how the events could work to the advantage of Western commercial interests. The freshly-persuaded President then girded his loins and put his PR firms to work. Iraq is now in ruins and its (largely) puppet government remains (perpetually?) poised to sign off on the surrender of vast oil reserves.
